Easter Countdown Family Activity: Jesus is Alive!

Easter Sunday

Passage: Matthew 28:1-10

Verse: Matthew 28:6

Theme: Jesus is Alive!

Today is the day! Easter Sunday! Today I’m going to teach you something that Christians have been saying for a very long time. Some people think Christians started saying this not long after Jesus rose from the dead!

It is called the Paschal or Easter greeting. Christians would say it to each other to celebrate Christ’s resurrection. Here’s how it goes: When I say, “He is risen,” you say, “He is risen, indeed.”

Let’s try it!

“He is risen!”

“He is risen, indeed!”

Isn’t that special? We get to say the same thing that other Christians have said to each other for pretty much as long as there have been Christians. So cool!

Did you notice anything interesting about what we said? We didn’t say, “He has risen,” meaning he did this one time a long time ago. We say, “He is risen.” Do you know why we say it that way?

We say it that way because Jesus is still risen! He rose from the dead on Easter Sunday, and he has been alive ever since! Jesus is still risen, and he will be alive forever and ever and ever!

Wow, Jesus is so amazing!

Today we’re going to make a confetti popper to celebrate our amazing Jesus’ resurrection.
