Easter Countdown Family Activity: Jesus is the Good Shepherd

6 Days before Easter

Passage: John 10:11-19

Verse: John 10:11

Theme: Jesus is the Good Shepherd

Do you know what a shepherd is? A shepherd is a person who takes care of sheep. The sheep come to love their shepherd. They know his voice, and they will only obey their shepherd! They’ll follow their shepherd around, but they’d never follow a stranger!

Jesus tells us that he is the Good Shepherd and we are his sheep. He leads us, and we follow him! Just like real sheep follow their shepherd by learning what his voice sounds like, we can learn what Jesus’ voice sounds like, too. Now, his isn’t a voice you can hear like you hear me talking right now. Jesus speaks to us through his Word, the Bible! And the Holy Spirit lives inside us and lets us know if we are doing something right or wrong.

The Good Shepherd knows us and leads us in the ways that are best for us. No one else would love us as much as the Good Shepherd does. He loves us so much that he would die for his sheep! He also will go out and look for even just one of his sheep if they get lost.

Wow! What a good God Jesus is!

Today, we’re going to have fun drawing a sheep and adding wool to make him or her fluffy! When we see sheep, we can remember that Jesus is our Good Shepherd who loves us so much that he died for us. We must learn to follow his voice just like sheep only follow their shepherd.
